All active registered voters will receive a postage-paid Vote By Mail (VBM) ballot for the 2020 general election.

October 13

Voter Registration Deadline

  • to submit voter registration in person to Bergen County Clerk,

  • for mailed application to be received by Clerk, or

  • for online application to be submitted (online registration began on September 4).

  • Bergen County residents may register to vote at the Office of the Superintendent of Elections, located at One Bergen County Plaza, Room 380, in Hackensack.  In order to meet the needs of residents, this office will be open from 9:00AM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.  People may also register at their local municipal clerk’s office, hours vary.

Bergen County Freeholders have created a Video to Assist Residents with Vote By Mail for the November General Election.

November 3
General Election

  • If mailed, a VBM ballot must be postmarked no later than this day and received on or before November 10. 

  • Voter may turn in ballot at a polling location. 

  • Voter may deposit ballot in a secure drop box. There is a drop box located at Old Tappan Borough Hall and Hillsdale Borough Hall parking lot. You may contact the Board of Elections at 201-336-6230 or the Board of Elections website to locate another Drop Box near you. 

  • If you have a disability and need an accessible ballot, please contact (201) 336-7020 or you may go to your assigned polling place, which will provide access to an in-person accessible voting device on General Election Day.
